We want you to experience a whole new dimension to Chester Zoo, one we’re creating in collaboration with talented artists, landscape designers, scientists and entertainers.  We’re transforming some of our favourite spaces around the zoo into unique worlds.

Working along side Mighty Giant, I wanted to faithfully depict animal and environmental sounds you would expect to hear in the exhibition and in the animations. As well as realism and authenticity, it was important the creatures were fun and not too scary. Some of this was achieved via the sound design and the rest from the emotional tone of the music. Originally there wasn’t going to be music, we quickly realised to get the required levels of energy, music was the strongest element to help reinforce this.

The music is energetic and fast paced, featuring some exotic instruments like a Balinese Kettle Gong. What sounds like a guitar is actually a distorted Dulcimer. The delivery format was 2x 20s broadcast and online ads, with two 30s radio versions.
