Building Dread: Soundscapes for a Post-Apocalyptic World
This project involved crafting a soundscape that deepens the intensity and tension in a post-apocalyptic thriller film. Following the director's vision and existing creature sounds, the additional sound design focused on creating a truly immersive and unsettling environment.
Soundscapes of Survival:
- A Living Forest: Sounds were designed to bring the film's desolate forest to life, adding layers of ambience that heighten the sense of danger lurking around every corner.
- Haunting House: Foley recordings of creaking wooden floors and unsettling footsteps intensify the unsettling atmosphere inside the eerie house our characters must navigate.
Uncertain Encounters:
- Vivid Character Interactions: Sound design plays a crucial role in portraying the interactions between characters, from tense arguments to disorienting dream sequences.
- Alien Threat: Eerie soundscapes hint at the presence of unseen alien forces manipulating the environment, adding another layer of fear to the characters' situation.
Dialogue and Delivery:
- Subtle Enhancements: While the on-set dialogue recording was well-captured, it received additional attention in post-production with noise reduction and balancing within the mix to ensure clarity.
- Tailored for Different Platforms: Two final audio mixes were created – one optimised for online streaming platforms and another specifically designed for a theatrical release to maximize the immersive experience.
