‘Couple of months ago I created a Pioneer RT 909 reel to reel machine model and then decided to create an animation for it. This is the result. Cinema 4D and Redshift were used.’

The sound design on this project highlights the mechanical nature and the beauty of tape-based media; Delicate tape movement foley sounds are offset against more powerful metal mechanism clunks and clicks.

The music floats around an arpeggiated melody that provides a pleasant sense of warmth and modern rhythm-heavy production. The mixdown creates space for the machine's sounds to become the focus, without losing drive from the developing music. Room ambience is increasingly audible as the camera moves further away from the speaker system and reel to reel, immersing the viewer further into the space. Mastered on cassette tape via a Panasonic RX-5500LE.
