A Soundscape of Desolation: Helder Real's Dystopian Vision
This thought-provoking short film by Helder Real explores a future ravaged by a deadly alien virus. The sound design plays a crucial role in establishing the film's bleak and unsettling atmosphere.

A World of Isolation:
  • Minimal Character Sounds: Deliberately minimal character sound effects create a sense of isolation. This approach emphasizes the vastness of the dystopian world and the characters' struggle for survival. The focus shifts from the individuals to the overwhelming power of the environment and the ongoing crisis.
  • A Sonic Soundscape: The soundscape itself takes center stage. A powerful and rugged soundtrack, punctuated by moments of bleak sonority, creates a believable sonic environment for this desolate planet. This unsettling soundscape reflects the harsh realities of the characters' world.
  • A Musical Narrative: The musical elements seamlessly integrate with the soundscape, acting as a sonic narrative that mirrors the progression of the alien virus outbreak and its devastating impact on the planet and its inhabitants.
