Now in it’s 2nd year, Grue returned to Scarborough’s old parcel office. Built by the community, made entirely of recycled and repurposed materials. A fantastical world created from positive energy and discarded paper; a wandering cardboard labyrinth of rooms to explore and wonders to discover. A poem guides the audience to explore and navigate through the experience.
The installation had seven themed areas, each equipped with a designed soundscape creating a sonic journey from a broken entrance to the climactic final room housing a giant creature. In zones where a musical ambience prevailed, careful attention was given to ensure these distinct compositions shared a similar scale and key. This harmonious approach minimised unwanted dissonance from any sound spillage between rooms.
